On-Road Defensive Driving Course (ADC2)

This is the ideal course for you, if you:

• Are serious about driving
• Have a court order to do a defensive driving course (we are court compliant)
• Are driving in an unfamiliar environment (e.g. country people in the city and vice-versa)
• Are uncertain if age or impairment is affecting your driving
• Just want to improve their driving or ensure you are driving in the best possible manner

It allows us to assess drivers' weaknesses and strengths, reinforce existing skills and give them new defensive techniques in the vehicles they usually drive. We focus on finding the cause of problems not just the symptoms.

We run this course generally on a one to one basis, with a maximum of two students to one instructor. The course costs only $242.00 for a half day, with either one or two students. In this relaxed environment we are given the opportunity to enhance current defensive techniques and teach new defensive driving techniques. Students also have the opportunity to have any deficiencies in their driving corrected.

Working on the road provides us with the real life driving environment, so our students gain large improvements in their road sharing skills, making driving a more pleasant experience. This helps our students gain more confidence in their own abilities and become more aware of their own limitations.

• Pre-drive vehicle checks and preparation
• Load security and safety
• Seating position
• Steering control and operation
• Road sharing skills
• Vehicle sympathy
• Driver attitude
• Seeing and being seen
• Approaching traffic lights
• Negotiating bends and corners
• Using merging ramps and allowing others to merge
• Moving on and off bitumen with broken edges
• Using gravel margins
• Driving on one-lane mountain roads
• Handling steep ascents and descents

This course focuses on defensive driving techniques that prevent accidents and encourages compliance with the road rules. We avoid "nit-picking" of bad habits, except where these could constitute a hazard.

The road and traffic conditions will include, as far as possible, all those found in the driver's usual work or social environment, plus any other significant local situations.
