Motorcycles and Scooter
The AD4WD motorcycle/scooter course was developed by enthusiastic motorcyclists. Regardless of the reasons you ride, or what you choose to ride, you need to be prepared with the skills and knowledge that specifically apply to motorcycling in all its forms. Motorcycling carries it’s own inherent risks that are in many instances greater than those experienced when driving a four-wheeled motor vehicle. AD4WD will teach you how to minimise those risks.
Whether you're an experienced rider or just starting up, you have something to learn. Some of the topics covered are:
- Before you start
- The motorcycle controls
- Clothing and weather protection
- Defensive riding techniques
- Starting the engine
- Traction and control
- Balance and braking
- Slower speed control
- Higher speed control
- Basic traffic behaviour
- Emergency techniques
- The open road
- The motorcyclist and the law
- Carrying a passenger or load
- Riding on motorways; at night and in bad weather.
This course is designed for licensed riders and is facilitated by specifically qualified instructors, holding a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessing (Motorcycle Instruction).
Our 8 hour course includes classroom and riding sessions in a controlled area and covers risk management, mental defensive riding strategies and defensive riding skills. It allows you the opportunity to improve your riding abilities and will enable you to react promptly to the challenges encountered in city and highway riding.
You will develop skills and strategies that will help prevent you from becoming another statistic.
